Former Vice Chancellor of UHAS, Professor John Owusu Gyapong, donated GHS131,340.00 (One-hundred and thirty-one thousand, three-hundred and forty cedis) as seed money into the UHAS Students Financial Scheme. This money represents part payment of his entitled family holiday, he stated in a letter dated on March 21, 2023, which accompanied the cheque he presented to UHAS Management at the time.

Prof. Gyapong’s letter further stated: “It is my hope that this will go a long way to support the many needy but brilliant students in the UHAS community.”

Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, Registrar of UHAS, speaking on behalf of Senior Management, said, “On behalf of the University Council and Management, we express our sincere gratitude to Prof. John Gyapong for contributing seed money of GHS131,340.00 to the UHAS Students Financial Scheme to support needy but brilliant students in UHAS.”

The UHAS Students Financial Scheme was set up following a decision at the Senior Management Meeting of June 8, 2022.

Prof. Gyapong was the second Vice Chancellor of UHAS, from 2016 to 2022.
