Giving the keynote address, University Librarian Dr. Theresa Adu applauded the learners, who put up a sterling performance, especially in the poetry recitals and readings. She encouraged the teachers to continue to engage the learners in reading activities and called on the parents who were present to reduce their children’s screentime in exchange for reading activities. She also advised them to start gifting their children with books instead of gadgets to help imbibe in them the habit of reading.

Dr. Adu noted that there were many hidden gems in books, adding that her outfit was working with other collaborators to equip the basic school with a befitting library to enhance the reading culture. She said not only does reading open the child’s mind to lots of possibilities, but it also builds confidence and courage.

UHAS Registrar, Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, congratulated the School for the great strides achieved in the three years since its establishment, and lauded the staff for helping guide the learners along. She advised the fresh graduates from basic 9 to use the training received as a guiding light wherever they find themselves.
