Professor So Yoon Kim led a delegation for the Ho Teaching Hospital Expansion project to meet with Vice Chancellor Professor Lydia Aziato and members of management from University of Health and Allied Sciences. The aim of the meeting was to gather crucial information for the project’s feasibility study. The team was committed to ensuring academic and professional excellence while recognizing the project’s importance for the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

During the meeting, Professor Kim emphasized the significance of UHAS as a tertiary health training institution and major stakeholder in the project. The delegation intends to rely on established relationships to maximize the benefits that the University and other stakeholders will gain from the project upon completion. Professor Kim also highlighted the proposed infrastructure design and sustainable measures to advance the realization of a multipurpose medical facility.

UHAS Vice Chancellor, Professor Lydia Aziato, assured the delegation that the project would enable UHAS to meet the needs of the hospital while providing trained healthcare professionals to complement the existing workforce of HTH. She committed the full support of the University to the project from inception to completion.

Emeritus Professor Fred N. Binka, the Founding Vice Chancellor of UHAS, emphasized the need for a mission-driven focus that would distinguish Ho Teaching Hospital from other teaching hospitals in the country and beyond. He also called for an infrastructure model that could be augmented for future expansion purposes.

Dr. John Tampouri, CEO of Ho Teaching Hospital, called for the digitalization of the facility, particularly the laboratories and conference rooms, to facilitate the teaching and training of students and healthcare professionals.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Togbe Professor Tagbor, reiterated the importance of incorporating digital advanced facilities and equipment into the facility to enable students to access them during their teaching and learning, regardless of their location.

The University Librarian, along with some Deans and Directors of the University, were also present and made inputs to the discussions.
