SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES

MPHIL / PHD PROGRAMMMES IN MEDICAL IMAGING APPLICANTS (Ghanaian and Inernational )

1. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPHIL) IN MEDICAL IMAGING

The MPhil programme has two pathways – the two (2) years Full-Time (regular) and the three years Part-Time (sandwich) options. The timeline for the full time (regular) format will be consistent with the academic timetable of the university (usually runs from (August to June). For Part-Time students, the first year will consist of two long vacations (June – August). Each long vacation period will be equivalent to one semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MPHIL

  • Applicants must hold a first degree (at least 2nd class lower or 2.2 CGPA) in Medical Imaging (Diagnostic/therapy Radiography), Nuclear Medicine or related Medical Imaging area from a recognised University.
  • Applicants must have at least two years work experience as a diagnostic or therapy radiographer, mammographer, sonographer or other related MI specialties.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees
  • Applicants must pass an admission interview

2. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PHD)

The PhD programme is a four (4)-year full-time or six years’ part-time programme to be conducted in similar formats as the MPhil full time (regular) and part-time (sandwich)]. In the first academic year, candidates will undertake same taught courses to enable them identify areas of research interest in MI to conduct their research. The timeline for the full time (regular) format will be consistent with the academic timetable of the university (usually runs from August to June). For Part-Time students, the first year will consist of two long vacations (June – August). Each long vacation period will be equivalent to one semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR PHD

  • Applicants must hold an MPhil or MSc. in Medical Imaging, Therapy Radiography, Nuclear Medicine or related MI area from a recognised University.

SCHOOL OF BASIC AND BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES

MSC/ MPHIL / PHD PROGRAMMMES IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES APPLICANTS (Ghanaian and Inernational)

1. MASTER OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR MSC PROGRAMME

  • Applicants must hold a first degree (at least 2nd class lower or 2.0 CGPA) from a recognized university in areas such as Biology, Biomedical Sciences and Health related degrees such as Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine and Nutrition.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees.
  • Applicants must pass an admission interview.
  • Applicants with third class may be considered for admission based on work experience and/or other qualifications

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MPHIL

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH – HOHOE CAMPUS

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (M.Phil.) IN APPLIED EPIDEMIOLOGY (REGULAR) (Ghanaian and Inernational)

1. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPHIL REGULAR) IN APPLIED EPIDEMIOLOGY

Duration of the Programme: The programme will be full time for a period of 24 months

Entry Requirements

  • A good first degree (with a minimum of second-class lower division) in relevant health and health-related field.
  • Applicants with three (3) years relevant working experience are preferred.
  • All candidates should have a background or interest in Public Health.
  • Applicants will be required to submit their Curriculum Vitae, pass an entrance examination and /or an interview, and may be required to submit a 500-word concept note on their chosen area of interest.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees

2. MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH) (Ghanaian and International)

MPH Options

  • Epidemiology and Disease Control
  • General
  • Health Promotion
  • Health Systems Management
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Nutrition
  • Family and Reproductive Health

Entry Requirements

  • A good first degree (minimum of second class lower) from a recognized accredited University.
  • Relevant working experience in the health sector will be an advantage. Candidates with high Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) but limited post-qualification experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants are required to submit their Curriculum Vitae, pass an entrance interview.
  • Applicants are required to submit a 500-word concept note on their chosen area of interest.

Duration of the Programme: The programme is a Full Time programme for a period of 12 months.

2. DOCTOR of PHILOSOPHY (PhD in PUBLIC HEALTH) – ONLY FULL-TIME (Ghanaian and International)

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), Master of Public Health, other Masters degrees in Medical/Health Sciences or equivalent degrees in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/academic referees.
  • A Statement of Purpose from the candidate (not more than 500 words)
  • Applicants who meet the minimum requirements upon submission of relevant documents, will be invited to undergo a rigorous academic interview.

Duration of the Programme: 

The duration of this PhD programme is a minimum of three (3) years for Full-time study
