What we do
The Public Relations Desk under the Public Affairs Unit serves as a conduit between the University and the media and also relates with the public on behalf of the University. It furnishes the public with information about the University through the management of the University’s official enquiry lines, the official email address and other social media platforms of the University e.g. Facebook, Twitter among others.
Occasionally, the Public Relations Desk coordinates with Deans, Heads of Departments and other Senior Management Members to organize media dialogue to educate the public about the University and its prospects. This situates the University in a positive limelight and increases the number of applicants each year.
The Public Relations Desk is responsible for the organization and management of the following University functions and events:
- Matriculation Ceremonies
- Congregation Ceremonies
- Induction Ceremonies
- Inaugural Lectures
- Special/Occasional Lectures (e.g. John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Lectures)
- Special Functions
The Public Relations Desk aims at helping Staff, Faculty, Offices, Units, Departments, Schools and Directorates in preparing and disseminating communication in order to ensure the smooth flow of information both internally and externally.
The Publication and Documentation Desk under the Public Affairs Unit serves as the custodian of official University Publications.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Annual Report
This is a statutory requirement. It presents the state of the University. The progress made and expectations for subsequent years.
It is a document which states appointments made, resignations, retirements, administrative changes among others and other university publications e.g. Matriculation and Congregation brochures etc.
The Publication and Documentation Desk liaises with the various Schools and Directorates to publish the students’ handbook and prospectus. Although the schools provide the content, the unit facilitates the production of the documents.
University Calendar and Other Souvenirs
The Publication and Documentation Desk is responsible for the production of content (gathering of pictures, materials and the selection of themes) for Calendars, Diaries and other souvenirs of the University. The Desk then works subsequently with the selected printing/production houses to ensure the production of the calendar, dairies and other souvenirs as and when required.
Academic Fliers/Publicity Materials
The Publication and Documentation Desk provides content for the production of academic fliers that project the programmes offered in the various schools of the University; the entry requirements, the Aims, Mission and Vision of the University. The academic fliers are distributed during open days and outreach programs to prospective students.
The Publication and Documentation Desk provides content for the official University website whereas the Information Communication Technology Directorate (ICT) caters for the technical aspect.
The Protocol Desk under the Public Affairs Unit in collaboration with the International Programmes Directorate handles matters concerning overseas travel of both members of the University Community as well as receives official visitors. The Unit also organises logistics for University functions, as well as deal with matters of hospitality.
The Protocol Desk performs the following Passages tasks:
- Making official travel arrangements, e.g. Planning itineraries & ticketing
- Assisting staff to acquire/renew travelling documents
- Facilitation/Acquisition/Renewal of Immigrant’s Registration and Work Permits
- Facilitations of document for Visa acquisition for official travels
The Protocol Desk also facilitates the fulfilment of the obligations of the University on the occasion of:
- Retirement (Certificates, Send-off receptions)
- Death (Announcing funeral arrangements, Facilitating refund of coffin costs, Arranging for hearse, facilitating payment of benefits to family members)
The Protocol Desk receives official guests of the University and sometimes organizes events at which the guests perform special functions.
