His Lordship Justice Victor Jones Mawulom Dotse, Chairman of Council, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) launched a 10-year Strategic Plan to mark the beginning of a new phase of UHAS. He said the Strategic Plan was a blueprint that seeks to progress UHAS from the foundation phase to the stage of development and growth. The Strategic Plan 2017-2027 was launched at a special congregation to commemorate the third UHAS Leadership Lecture Series in memory of Professor John Evans Atta-Mills.

In his introductory address, Professor John Owusu Gyapong, Vice Chancellor of UHAS stated that, the strategic plan outlines UHAS’ actions as it strives to become a pre-eminent research and practically-oriented health educational institution dedicated to community service. He further enumerated and explained each of the 10 key strategic objectives and how each will contribute to the development and growth of UHAS within the next decade.

To ensure that UHAS achieves the objectives of the strategic plan, Professor Gyapong specified that UHAS will monitor the progress against its priorities, through annual planning and budgeting processes which will include identifying appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs), benchmarks and targets. He indicated that UHAS will conduct a mid-term (five years after the launch of the plan) external review of the strategic plan.

Professor Gyapong recognised that, the strategic plan was a collective representation of views, opinions and aspirations of the entire university community. He therefore took time to express his sincere compliments and deep gratitude to the University Council, Deans and Directors, Head of Departments, and the entire university community for the diligent work.
