The School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho (UHAS) has received 16 cartons of books valued at US $5000 from the Ewe Association of Metropolitan Chicago.
Presenting the books, a representative of the Association, Mr Justice D. Amenu asserted that the donation was the association’s “widow’s mite” towards the training of health professionals in UHAS in particular and Ghana at large.
He further related that the books, which included encyclopaedias and other reference books in the fields of Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health and Allied Sciences are to augment the academic material stock of the University which will go a long way to improve on the quality of training of health professions in Ghana.
Dr Daniel Abaye; the Dean of Students, received the books on behalf of the University Management. He thanked members of the Ewe Association of Metropolitan Chicago for the donation and noted that the books would not only be very beneficial to the School of Nursing and Midwifery but the entire University community.
Present at the short presentation ceremony were the Head of Department for Midwifery (Dr Margaret Amenuke-Edusei), Head of Department for Public Health Nursing (Dr Robert Alhassan Kaba), the School Officer for School of Nursing and Midwifery (Mr George Lomotey) and few lecturers of the School.
