The French Embassy in Ghana has donated ninety-five (95) books of diverse topics to support the teaching and learning of Functional French in the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho.
The donation was in response to a request made by the Department of General and Liberal Studies (DGLS) of the School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences to the French Embassy.
The 95 reading materials donated include text books on basic French grammar, phonetics and vocabulary building with associated compact discs.
As part of the University of Health and Allied Sciences’ effort to ensure that its students have basic French communication skills, the Department of General and Liberal Studies introduced a compulsory functional French course during the 2017/2018 academic year.
Since the introduction of the course, students of the School of Nursing and Midwifery and third year students of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences have registered. Students from Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy were the pioneer cohort.
Ms. Julie Fournier-Angelo, Co-operation Attaché for French at the French Embassy coordinated the donation and the Acting Head of Department of General and Liberal Studies (DGLS) Mr. Nathaniel Glover-Meni received the donation on behalf of the University.
