The Institute of Health Research, UHAS, with funding from the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), completed the first module of a grant writing training for forty-five early career researchers from Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa, on May 3, 2023.
This first module of the training focused on building capacity of participants for identifying funding opportunities, reading funding calls for proposals critically, understanding the calls, and building a team to respond to funding calls. Professor Margaret Gyapong (Director, Institute of Health Research), Professor Evelyn Ansah (Director, Centre for Malaria Research), Professor Seth Owusu-Agyei (Director, Centre for Non-communicable Diseases Research) and Mr. Fidelis Anumu (Head of Research Operations), were the resource persons. This experienced team shared their grant writing experiences with participants.
After the training, participants expressed satisfaction with the knowledge they had gained from the training and were full of appreciation to the funders (ACU), the University, and the resource persons for such an enlightening programme.
