Council main
The Council Chairman of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho (UHAS), His Lordship Victor Jones Mawulom Dotse called for an established bond between the University and the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council. He added that as one of the youngest public universities in the country and first in the Volta Region, there is the need for a greater collaboration with all stakeholders such as the district and municipal assemblies, chiefs and other traditional authorities as well as Members of Parliament.

He further expressed the Council’s appreciation to the Co-ordinating Council for the countless assistance to the University. He then asked for a lot more support in the areas of infrastructure development for the University.

His Lordship Victor Jones Mawulom Dotse made the above assertions when he led the members of the new University Council to pay a courtesy call on the Regional Minister at his official residence in Ho.

He added that the Regional Co-ordinating Council is highly committed to the development of UHAS and hopes that the collective efforts would soon birth tangible results especially in the areas of infrastructure development.

He said that his background as a medical officer and his relationship with Senior Management of the University afford him the opportunity to have a deeper understanding of the challenges confronting the University.

On attempts made so far, the Regional Minister hinted that Government is at the moment considering Private Public Partnership (PPP) arrangements towards tackling the infrastructure deficit of UHAS and has received a number of interests from investors. He said Government is also particularly aware of specific areas that will not be attractive to the profit-minded private sector and is thus working hard in seeking funding for such projects within the University.
The elated Regional Minister expressed his confidence in the Council and believes that a lot could be achieved during their tenure. He made a passionate appeal to the Chairman and members of the University Council; calling for a crusade of lobbying for projects to resolve the infrastructure challenges of UHAS.

Members of the University Council took turns to show their appreciation to Government through the Regional Minister for the opportunity offered them to serve on the Council.

This he said will save the University the headache of transporting its students elsewhere for their training.
Another member of the Council, Nana Owusu Afari opined that for the citizens of the region to benefit from UHAS, the chiefs and traditional leaders should be brought on board. He also called on government to retool the science laboratories in the Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Volta Region to enable SHS graduates from the region to compete for the competitive programmes being offered in UHAS.

Professor Victor Patrick Yao Gadzekpo, also a member of the UHAS Council, on his part, appealed to the Regional Co-ordinating Council and the Ho Municipal Assembly to help protect the University lands from encroachment. He further called for a proper planning of the community that will soon emerge around the University.
Honourable John Nelson Akorli, the Chief Executive of the Ho Municipal Assembly used the occasion to commend the Management of UHAS for the professional manner in which business is conducted within the University and further pledged the support of his Assembly towards the development of the University.
Present at the meeting were members of the UHAS Council, officials from the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council and officials from the Ho Municipal Assembly.
