HITA is non-profit organization based in Germany. The organization promotes and implements the use of modern and innovative Information Technology ideas to improve health care and ore-service education for health trainees in Ghana.

Tuesday, March 14, 2017, the School of Nursing and Midwifery-UHAS signed a memorandum of understanding with HITA. The purpose of the MOU was to provide the framework for partnership between HITA and SONAM in order to create a Ghana-based initiative to develop services and solutions for the Health Care System in Ghana, provide improved education to SONAM Staff to discover technological and organizational solutions in e-learning, m-learning and other related areas.

On Friday, April 19 2019, the HITA Team led by Mr. Thomas Erkert paid a courtesy call on the University Management to discuss the progress of their partnership with SONAM-UHAS. The purpose of the meeting was to inform management of the achievements, the challenges and the second phase of the programme. The University Management, represented by the Pro Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, the Dean of SONAM, the Director of Academic Affairs, the Local Programme Coordinator and the SONAM School Officer were pleased with the progress achieved so far and requested a continued collaboration into the future. The HITA team was encouraged to be optimistic of a brighter future as the University embarks on a huge infrastructural development venture which will aid the expansion of the programme.
