UHAS places first in Ghana on 2023 AD Scientific Index

UHAS has placed Number One in the AD Scientific Index World Scientist and University Rankings 2023 for Ghana. Professor Seth Owusu-Agyei, former Pro-Vice Chancellor and Professor of Epidemiology at UHAS, was ranked Number One Scientist in Ghana and in UHAS, in the Medical and Health Sciences category. This category evaluated 304 scientists in 17 universities/institutions, using numerous criteria to assess productivity and efficiency of those individuals and institutions.

UHAS scientists also took the third and fourth positions in Ghana, in the same category. Professor Fred N. Binka, Foundation Vice Chancellor and Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at UHAS, placed 2nd in UHAS and 3rd in Ghana; and Prof. John O. Gyapong, former VC and Professor of Neglected Tropical Diseases at UHAS, placed 3rd in UHAS and 4th in Ghana.

Overall, six UHAS scientists placed in the top-50 of the rankings for Ghana, including Prof. Margaret Gyapong, who placed 4th in UHAS and 12th in Ghana (in the Social Science category); Dr. Martin Adjuik came in at No. 5 in UHAS and 23 in Ghana; and Prof. Evelyn Korkor Ansah came in at No. 6 in UHAS and 29 in Ghana.

Others who placed in the top 20 for the UHAS internal ranking are: Prof. Harry. K. Tagbor (7); Dr. Martin A. Ayanore (8); Dr. Hubert Amu (9); Dr. Robert K. Alhassan (10); Prof. Francis B. Zotor (11); John Nsor-Atindana (12); Prof. Frank Edwin (13); Prof. T.C. Fleischer (14); Prof. Elvis E. Tarkang (15); Prof. Theophilus Adiku (16); Dr. Clement Narh (17); Dr. Kortei Nii Korley (18); Prof. Paul Amuna (19); Dr. Verner Orish (20).
