The Student Affairs Unit of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho organized a race competition for athletes of the University on Thursday, 19th November, 2017.
The event which covered a distance of 10km was part of the preparations towards the Inter University Cross Country Race to be hosted by the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) from 2nd November, 2017 to 5th November, 2017.
At the end of the event, Mr. Harrison Tenu, a Level 200 Nursing student emerged as the winner with a finish time of 39.58 (i.e. 39 minutes 58 seconds); Mr. Michael Idan, also a Level 200 Nursing student was adjudged the first – runner up with a finish time of 42.12 (i.e. 42 minutes 12 seconds) while Mr. Emmanuel Afenyeku, a Level 200 Public Health student emerged as the second – runner up with a finish time of 43.35 (i.e. 43 minutes 35 seconds).
Currently, the National Cross Country Race for the 10km record stands at 30.00 (30 minutes). Judging from the performance of the students, the Student Affairs Unit believes there are huge potentials within the University that need to be harnessed for the development of sporting activities in Ghana. The Unit is very positive that students from the University can achieve greater heights during the forthcoming sporting event at UMaT.
