UHAS Vice Chancellor Prof. Lydia Aziato attended the International Council of Nurses (ICN) 2023 Congress, which was held in Montreal, Canada from July 1 to 5. During a panel discussion on the topic “Improving nursing leadership through quality and sustained policies in the Africa region”, the VC said that nurses in Africa must remain committed, collaborate, and be resilient if they are to strategically advance their profession. She advised nurses to be flexible, cultivate multiple skills, and get ready for advancement across the continent.

The theme of the international conference was “Nurses together: A force for global health”. Speakers from various nations spoke during the regional sessions on topics pertaining to the advancement of nursing. The Africa regional session witnessed presentations from Prof. Lydia Aziato, representing Ghana; Glory Mbisi, Head Nurse, from Eswatini; and Judith Awinja Aluora, from Kenya.
