Kwabena Sakyi is a Clerk of Works at the Works and Physical Development Directorate of the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Volta Region of Ghana. He pursued his Higher National Diploma in Building Technology at the Kumasi Polytechnic and continued with a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He then pursued his Masters in Procurement Management at the same University.
He worked with indigenous construction firms holding various positions. He has experience in Building Construction and Small Towns Water Supply Systems. He joined the University of Health and Allied Sciences in 2013 as a Principal Assistant Clerk of Works. Due to his varied background, he sometimes helped in the Quantity Surveying division and also did some procurement and Maintenance Works in the early stages of the University.
Kwabena Sakyi was appointed to represent the Senior Staff on the University Council from 2014 to 2017. On the University Council, He had the opportunity to attend some workshops and Seminars which included Senior Academic Leadership Training (SALT) Phase II.
His research interest is in the areas of sustainable procurement where cost is not the only reason for awarding contract but the environment, social and economic factors which are also considered.
