The University of Health and Allied Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position below to take effect from August 1, 2026.

ACADEMIC POSITION

POSITION: Dean of School of Pharmacy
Reporting to:   Pro-Vice Chancellor

QUALIFICATIONS 
The successful applicant must:

a.    Be of a Professorial status from an academic institution or a person from industry eligible to be appointed as such.

b.    Capable of providing academic leadership, especially in the area of teaching, research and extension services in the relevant disciplines

c.    Provide evidence of managerial and administrative leadership and capacity to promote a collegial working environment in the School/Institute

d.    Demonstrate capacity to attract funding for research and development

e.    Have the vision and drive to oversee the growth and development of the School/Institute.

f.    Be able to serve at least a term of 3 years before attaining age 60.

DUTIES

a.    The Dean is responsible for providing leadership to the School and for maintaining and promoting efficiency and good order in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by the University Act and Statutes, or as may be determined by the Council and the Academic Board.

b.    The Dean is to ensure the approved programmes and functions of the School are duly carried out by members of the School.

c.    The Dean is also responsible for the general administration of the School in respect of human, financial and material resources within the general framework of the University policy.

TENURE

The Dean shall hold office for a term of three (3) years on terms and conditions approved by the University Council before reaching the retirement age of 60 years. The Dean may be eligible for re-appointment for a further term of up to three (3) years only.

iii.    Vision statement of up to three pages (font size 12, single spacing) indicating how the applicant intends to use the period in office to address relevant issues that will ensure the University achieves its vision and mission as contained in the UHAS Strategic Plan (2017-2027). iv.    The vision statement should be aligned with the University's strategic plan.
v.    Names, telephone numbers and email addresses of three persons who can attest to the applicant’s professional competencies and are willing to provide references.
