– Category A: Candidates who hold Certificate Public Health related studies such as Environmental Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, Health Information, Community Health Nursing / Midwifery, etc. are eligible to apply.

Category B: Candidates who hold Diploma in Public Health studies or Education studies but scored an CGPA below 2.0 may apply. Those who hold Diploma in closely related fields such as Statistics, Sociology, Demography, etc. are also eligible to apply.

Category A: Auxiliary Nurses, Midwives and Community Health Nurses who hold certificates and Auxiliary Identification Number (AIN) in Post-basic Midwifery from Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Ghana are eligible to apply.

Category B: Practicing Nurses/Midwives who hold diploma with CGPA below 1.5 are also eligible to apply. Successful applicants MUST pass an examination at the end of the course to be eligible for admission to Level 100 or 200 (depending on the applicant’s professional background and choice of programme) of the Sandwich mode of the following degree programmes:

Certificate Entry:

Candidates who pass the end-of-Access Course examination are eligible to apply for admission into Level 200

However, successful candidates who seek to be admitted into a programme apart from that in which they are certified may be admitted into Level 100.

Diploma Entry: 

Applicants MUST hold the following qualifications from institutions accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Ghana.

Diploma in General Nursing, Midwifery or Public Health Nursing/Registered Community Health Nursing.

Post NAC/NAP Midwifery applicants will progress in the field of Midwifery if they have a Diploma and are exempted from writing the Licensing Examination.

Level of Entry

The point of entry will be Level 300.

Applicants who seek to be admitted into a programme apart from that in which they are certified may be admitted into Level 200 and must write the Licensing Examination by the NMC.

Applicants whose CGPA is between 1.50 and 1.99 will be considered for admission into Level 200.

Short-listed applicants may be required to attend a selection interview.

3. School of Allied Health Science (SAHS)

Diploma Holders

Applicants with any Professional Diploma in Nutrition/Dietetic Technology from accredited institutions with CGPA of not less than 2.0 and who is licensed by the Allied Health Professions Council shall be admitted to Level 300. 

Degree Holders

Applicants with first degrees in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Food Science, or related fields from accredited institutions with CGPA of not less than 2.0 shall be admitted to Level 300. 

BTECH/HND/Diploma in Hospitality Management and related fields

Applicants with BTECH/HND/Diploma in Hospitality Management from accredited institutions with CGPA of not less than 2.0 shall be admitted to Level 200.

• Doctor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (6 years):

Applicants who hold Bachelors degree of Medical Laboratory Science may be admitted into the Programme at Level 500.

Applicants who hold a related Science-Based Bachelor’s degree from a GTEC Accredited Institution may be admitted to level 300 of the programme.

Applicants who hold Diploma/HND in Medical Laboratory Science awarded by a GTEC Accredited institutions may be admitted to Level 300 of the programme.

Applicants who hold HND (Science Laboratory Technology) awarded by a GTEC/NABTEX Accredited institutions will be admitted to Level 200 of the programme.

For all the above qualifications, an CGPA of 2.0 or above would be an advantage.   

• Bachelor of Orthotics and Prosthetics

Applicants must holdDiploma in Orthotics and Prosthetics or related discipline awarded by an accredited institution.

Applicants must have not less than three years of certified practice in Orthotics and Prosthetics and related discipline. 

Successful candidates will be admitted onto the programme at Level 300. 

Candidates with other relevant diploma shall be admitted into the programme at Level 200.

• Bachelor of Physiotherapy 
  
  

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or Diploma certificate from accredited institutions.

Applicants must hold diploma in any of the following disciplines: Physiotherapy Assistantship, Orthotic and Prosthetics or Occupational therapy Assistantship. 

Applicants must have practiced in their chosen fields for at least three (3) years.

Applicants may be required to pass an entrance examination/interview.

School Of Nursing & Midwifery (SONAM)

1.    Master of Philosophy (Nursing Studies) – 2 Years

• A first degree in Nursing, Midwifery or Public Health Nursing with a minimum of second-class lower division or equivalent.

• Applicants should be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.

The University of Health and Allied Sciences is a Specialized University. It is important therefore to ensure that the prerequisite areas of study for international applicants are the same as those required of local applicants. 
I.    A-Level Applicants: Candidates must have credit passes in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics at the G.C.E Ordinary Level, in addition to Chemistry, Physics and Biology at the G.C.E. Advance Level.

II.    American Qualification: Candidate must have passed American Advance Placement (AP) Course Examination

III.    Other Educational Credentials: IGCSE/IB – Applicants must possess at least Grades A*/A-C in English, Mathematics and Biology at the Standard (SL/‘O’ Level), in addition to three Higher Level (HL-A to C)/‘A’ Level (A to D)/IB2 (A-C) grades in Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

•    A first degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower division or equivalent or equivalent in pure or applied chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, life, and biomedical sciences or a related science programme.
•    A candidate with a good first degree in a relevant science programme and a minimum of three years’ working experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be eligible.

A.     WASSCE/SSSCE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMMES
Credit passes (A1-C6 / A-D) in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies (input all the four core subjects when applying) in addition to three elective subjects applicable to the programme of choice.
(Applicants should note that they are expected to have at least C6/D in Social Studies, even though it is NOT included in the calculation of aggregates.) 

B.     A-Level Applicants
Candidates must have five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics at the G.C.E Ordinary Level, in addition to Chemistry, Physics and Biology at the G.C.E. Advance Level.

3.    Combined Bachelor and Master of Science in Psychology

i.    Neuropsychology Option: All Core Subjects listed in ‘A’ above in addition to any three (3) of the following electives: Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Elective Mathematics.

ii.    Clinical and Counselling Options: All Core Subjects listed in ‘A’ above in addition to credit passes in any three (3) elective subjects.

iii.    Combined Bachelor and Master of Science in Psychology (Top-Up)

    An applicant who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Second-Class Lower Division or equivalent) may be considered for admission into Level 500.

    An applicant who holds a Bachelor’s degree in other health or related fields (Second-Class Lower Division or equivalent) may be considered for admission into Level 300

    Applicant who hold a Diploma in Psychology or other health-related programmes may be admitted to Level 200

Detailed subject areas include; Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, History, Christian Religious Studies or Islamic Religious Studies, Literature-in-English, French, Ghanaian Language, General Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, General Knowledge in Arts, Management in Living, Information Communication and Technology and Health Education.
2.    Bachelor of Health Services Administration

7.    SCHOOL OF PHARMACY (SOP) – HO CAMPUS

•    Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D)    -    6 years
Entry Requirements:
i.    All the Core Subjects listed in ‘A’ above in addition to (3) credits in the following Elective Subjects: Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Elective Mathematics.

ii.    Mature applicants must have obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dispensing Technology/related courses or its equivalent from an accredited institution with at least three (3) years relevant working experience. Applicant must have attained the age of 25 at the time of submitting the application forms.
iii.    A-Level Candidates must have the General Certificate of Education at Ordinary Level in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics, in addition to Chemistry, Physics and Biology at the Advance Level G.C.E. 
NB: All shortlisted applicants, shall be required to pass entrance examinations and a selection interview.

8. SCHOOL OF SPORTS AND EXERCISE MEDICINE (SSEM) – HO CAMPUS

•    A Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), Master of Public Health, other master’s degrees in medical/health sciences, equivalent degrees in a relevant field from an accredited institution, or membership degrees of professional medical colleges.
•    Pass an onsite test that includes writing a 700-word essay on a topic of public health interest.
ii.    Master of Philosophy (Applied Epidemiology) (2 years Full time) 
•    The MPhil in Applied Epidemiology is a competency-based training programme and field placement activities are mandatory.

Entry Requirements
•    A good first degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 or equivalent in a relevant health/health-related field. Candidates with CGPA of less than 2.5 may be considered if they possess a relevant postgraduate certificate.
•    Have a background or demonstrated interest in Public Health.
•    Have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience (advantage).

iii) Master of Public Health (MPH) (1 Year)

•    A first degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower division or equivalent in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular and Cell Biology, Toxicology, Pharmacy (BPharm/PharmD), Nursing, Medicine, Optometry, Physician Assistantship or relevant field.

iii)  Doctor of Philosophy (Toxicology) - 4 Years, Full-Time

Entry Requirements
•    A master’s degree (with research) or its equivalent in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular and Cell Biology, Toxicology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Allied Health Sciences or relevant field of study.

iv) Master of Philosophy (Toxicology) - 2 Years, Full-Time

Entry Requirements 
•    A first degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower division or equivalent in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Science, Molecular and Cell Biology, Toxicology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Chemistry or relevant field of study.  

v)    Doctor of Philosophy (Pharmacognosy) - 4 Years, Full-Time

•    A master’s degree (with research) or its equivalent in a relevant science programme (including, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Herbal Medicine, Pure or Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life and Biomedical Sciences) or related discipline. 
•    Applicants with professional postgraduate certificate (membership and fellowship) in a recognized health profession may also be considered.

vi) Master of Philosophy (Pharmacognosy) - 2 Years, Full-Time

•    A first degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower division or equivalent in Pharmacy, Herbal Medicine, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Pure or Applied Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences and related fields or equivalent.

viii) Master of Philosophy (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) - 2 Years, Full-Time

•    A first degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower division or equivalent in pure or applied chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, life and biomedical sciences) from an accredited institution.

ix) Master of Science (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) - 1 Year, Full-Time
Entry Requirements
•    A first degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower division or equivalent or equivalent in pure or applied chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, life, and biomedical sciences or a related science programme.
•    A candidate with a good first degree in a relevant science programme and a minimum of three years’ working experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be eligible.
