OUR DEPARTMENT STRUCTURE

The Data Centre and IT Security Department is strategically organised into three main sections, with six specialised units working in harmony to deliver comprehensive IT services and protection.

I am honoured to lead a dedicated team of professionals committed to safeguarding our institution's digital assets and ensuring the resilience of our technological infrastructure. Our department stands as the backbone of the organization's IT operations, working tirelessly to maintain security, stability, and innovation in an ever-evolving digital landscape

 

1) IT SECURITY, PLANNING AND GOVERNANCE

This section forms the strategic foundation of our department, focusing on the development, implementation, and oversight of robust security policies and governance frameworks. We ensure that our organization's IT practices align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.

 

Units under this section:
  1. Policy and Governance Officer
    Responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining IT policies, standards, and procedures. This unit ensures that all technology initiatives comply with relevant regulations and industry best practices, while promoting a culture of security awareness throughout the organisation.
  2. IT Systems Auditors
    Tasked with conducting regular audits of IT systems, applications, and processes. This unit identifies vulnerabilities, assesses controls, and provides recommendations to strengthen our security posture, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.

 

2) IT SECURITY OPERATIONS

At the frontline of our cyber defence, this section manages the day-to-day security operations, monitoring threats, and implementing protective measures to safeguard our digital environment from evolving cyber risks.

 

Units under this section:

  1. Application Security Officer
    Focused on ensuring the security of software applications throughout their lifecycle. This unit conducts security assessments, code reviews, and vulnerability testing to identify and address potential weaknesses before they can be exploited.

  2. Information Security Officers
    Responsible for monitoring networks, systems, and data for security breaches, investigating incidents when they occur, and implementing security tools and technologies. This unit serves as our rapid response team for security events, working diligently to protect sensitive information.

 

3) Data Centre Operations

This section forms the technical heart of our department, managing the physical and virtual infrastructure that powers our organization's IT services, ensuring high avaiability, performance, and scalability.

 

Units under this section:

  1. Systems Administration
    Tasked with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications. This unit ensures that all systems run optimally, with regular updates, patches, and performance monitoring to guarantee seamless service delivery.
  2. Open Source and Cloud Technology Officers
    Dedicated to exploring, implementing, and managing innovative technology solutions. This unit leverages the power of open-source software and cloud platforms to drive digital transformation, reduce costs, and enhance operational flexibility while maintaining security and reliability.
