The Performance, Education and Training (PET) Department exists to strengthen the University’s effectiveness by ensuring that faculty and staff are supported, developed and empowered to perform at their best. The Department plays a strategic role in aligning individual and departmental performance with the University’s vision, mission and strategic objectives. The PET Department performs the following roles:
- Conduct learning needs assessments based on data from completed Performance Appraisals to identify strengths and areas for development, guiding future training efforts.
- Design and conduct orientation and onboarding programmes for new employees.
- Design and implement performance and training programmes that align with the University’s strategic plan.
- Initiate policies and programmes for the training and development for all staff.
- Develop and review the Performance Management System of the University.
- Develop and implement appropriate methods to evaluate the effectiveness of training and development initiatives.
- Produce training reports and an annual report on all training activities conducted each year.
- Maintain a database of training and development activities and organize training sessions as needed.
- Process various forms of study leave for Senior and Junior staff.
- Plan and manage the annual training budget.
