OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR

Prof Lydia Aziato

PROFESSOR LYDIA AZIATO

B.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., FASLP,
FGCNM., FWAPCNM, ONC, RN

The Office of the Vice Chancellor is the highest office of the University and it sees to the day to day administrative and academic issues of the University. The Office is also responsible for driving the overall growth and development of the University under the direction of the University Council. It is also mandated to see to the overall financial issues of the University.

I extend a warm welcome to all our students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to our rising specialised university. University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) although young, is a leading health university in Ghana which is focused on training quality health professionals. The location of UHAS in the ‘Oxygen City’ of Ghana gives a relaxing and peaceful environment conducive for teaching and learning. My vision for the University in the next four years is to create a dynamic and responsive environment that promotes credible research, quality teaching and learning, vibrant internal processes, active stakeholder engagement grounded by the principles of Growth, Integrity, Fairness, Technology and Innovation, and Service.

I envisage UHAS to be the university of choice within the sub-region for training of quality health professionals. We will be the leader in health technology and a hub for health research including herbal and alternative medicine. We provide a friendly and collegial environment that makes all our partners and stakeholders desire to continue to work with us. Our unique, compulsory vocational training has endeared us to the communities and hospitals where we work. Our students and graduates work with excellent attitude and integrity, which is our core value.

Our committed and motivated team ensures our students and stakeholders achieve their needs in a timely manner. We provide an environment which allows freedom of expression and innovation. We embrace diversity and internationalization among both students and faculty. Indeed, we have a high percentage of international faculty who have contributed immensely to the growth of the University.

I look forward to receiving you all to UHAS and we are confident that together with all of you, the ‘Great Giant Rising’ will continue to grow. I look forward to personally welcoming each of you individually and inviting you to join us at UHAS in this life-transforming academic experience.
