Alfred Ofori Agyemang is an Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (ITAM) at the University of Health and Allied Sciences.
Education
Mr. Agyemang holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Pharmacognosy from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi; Bachelor of Science in Herbal Medicine (KNUST) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dispensing Technology (Pharmacy Technology) from Kumasi Technical University.
Work experience
He worked with the Upper West Regional Hospital as Medical Herbalist for 8years where he later became the Head of the Herbal Medicine Department, following an initial 6 years as a Dispensing Technologist at the same hospital.
Science /Research output
His interest is in standardization and quality assessment of natural products especially the safety and effectiveness of agents used in the treatment and management of liver diseases, snakebites and other neglected tropical diseases; as well as the Contribution of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) practices on health and quality of life.
