MIT Visiting Professor, Harvey F. Lodish, delivered a lecture on “Gene therapies for sickle cell disease” at the Cedi Auditorium, University of Health and Allied Sciences on September 27, in the middle of his one-week visit to the health-focused university located in Ghana’s Volta Region. Prof. Lodish’s visit was highly anticipated and his daily lectures and interactions have been very well patronized, particularly by users of the widely-used text book, Molecular Cell Biology, of which he is the lead author. Wednesday’s lecture was the only one broadcast via live stream (watch above). The lectures concluded on Thursday.
On Friday, Prof. Lodish toured the university, including labs that previously benefited from equipment donated by Seeding Labs, where he is a board member.
