University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) collaborated with the Ghanaian Academic and Research Network (GARNET) to host a week-long programme leading up to the fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 23 under the theme, “Overcoming the challenges of building digital scholarly infrastructure for the research and education community in Ghana” at the Cedi Auditorium, UHAS Main Campus.
The packed programme brought together industry experts and stakeholders from the education and research sector in Ghana and beyond, who engaged in insightful discourse and knowledge sharing on how to advance the National Research and Education Network (NREN) agenda in Ghana.
The kick-off event was a three-day technical workshop for selected network engineers from GARNET member institutions, which focused on “Campus Network Design and Operations.”
The fourth day was dedicated to two public panel sessions. The first session discussed “Digital infrastructure for scholarly publishing in Ghana: Challenges and opportunities”; and the second session discussed “The future of tertiary education in Ghana with Open Artificial Intelligence (AI).”
Participants also enjoyed a cocktail after the workshop, closing out the itinerary on day six with an excursion to several locations of interest in the Volta region.
